On Sunday 30th June Gipping Valley Archers hosted their first Open Field archery competition. Field Archery is best described as archery in the woods shot round a course of targets which they complete like a golf course.

Over half the entrants were new to this exciting form of archery and quickly adapted to the challenges this posed from their regular form of target archery. A well laid course challenged both novice and experienced field archers using the various contours of the grounds and woods of Haughley Park.

There were six different types of bow styles entered, ranging from the high-tech Compound bows to the traditional English longbows. Archery is truly a sport for all and is welcoming to all ages and genders. Gipping Valley Archers were well represented with several winners in their category.
