Gipping Valley Archers, formed in 1998 by Maureen and Roger Hatton, moved from its base at Claydon High School in 2021 to its current home at Stowmarket Golf Centre. The club has grown enormously since its origins, but remains proud of its foundations.  At the end of each calendar year, the most improved club archer is presented with The Hatton Trophy, an award that pays homage to the club founders and to our commitment to the development of the sport of archery.

We are affiliated to Archery GB, the national governing body for archery in the UK, and our growth reflects the vision of Archery GB, ‘enriching lives through archery’.

Our current focus on on developing strategies that will lead us into the Archery GB On Target Scheme.

We believe that archery should be accessible for everyone and our primary objective is to promote and encourage archery in all its forms within the local and surrounding communities.  To achieve this, we attend many community events with our training equipment to provide opportunities for you to have a go and to see what the sport can offer you.  As an affiliate of Archery GB, we share the mission to ‘rebuild, reimagine and represent archery in the next five years’ Archery GB

Our coaches offer an extensive training program which not only prepares you to shoot safely and confidently upon completion of a beginners course, but also about rules and etiquette on the range and a wealth of knowledge about various bow types.

The training does not stop here though!  We are fortunate to have coaches who voluntarily invest their time, skills and experience to help you continue your journey after you leave the training range.  Development days are scheduled throughout the year and are available to any archer wishing to develop their technique.

Although the range is open for most of the year, Saturdays and Sundays are our designated Club Target days where rounds are shot  in accordance with Archery GB rules of shooting to allow bowman classification level awards to be claimed.
