Our club can run an Archery Academy course which consist of six lessons over six weeks, with each lesson lasting 3 hours for parties of 10 or more. We can accommodate Children 6 plus years or adults or even a mix. All participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult thought the course.

You will be provided all the necessary equipment, bows, arrows arm guards and finger tabs. The sessions are run by  our qualified coaches and instructors

The course will cover: -

Week 1

  • Measured up for students: - eye dominance, draw weight and draw length
  • Provision of Recurve bows, arrows, arm guards and finger tabs suitable to the individual.
  • Detailed explanation of Rules and Safety – key to understand the do’s and don’ts, the meaning of the whistles.
  • Shooting technique at 10 yards including stance, positioning, options for aiming

Week 2

  • Assembling your bow
  • Practice at 10 yards
  • Advice on tuning your barebow technique
  • Taking your bow apart.

Week 3

  • Assembling your bow
  • Introduction to shooting with a sight
  • Practice at 10 yards
  • Advice on tuning your sighted bow technique
  • Taking your bow apart.

Week 4

  • Shooting at 20 Yards
  • Improving on their preferred styles (sighted or barebow)
  • Introduction to scoring

Week 5

  • The differences in types of bow.  Link to Bow Types
  • Longbow
  • Horse Bow
  • Flatbow
  • Barebow
  • Recurve
  • Compound Bow
  • Continue shooting at 10 and 20 Yards
  • More on scoring

Week 6

  • 252 competition (12 ends of 3) at 10 yards
